The Government of Mauritius is currently issuing new Machine Readable Mauritius Passports with additional security features. In this context Mauritiuans residing in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic and Ukraine are advised to apply for a new passport well in advance but in no case later than six months before the expiry of their current Mauritius Passport.

Mauritius Passports with a validity beyond 31 December 2007 will be valid until expiry.

Passports issued in 2005
The government of Mauritius has decided that old passports issued in the year 2005, which were restricted to a validity period ending 30 June 2007, be extended freely to its full validity.
Please send a prepaid envelope or stamps (5.30 EURO) along with your passport (issued in 2005 and valid until 30 June 2007) to the Embassy for extension.

Application for new passport
Applications for new passports should be made through the Embassy. As a first step, please download the application.

The application form must be filled in BLACK INK.

Documents to be submitted for application for a new passport

  1. Two (2) recent passport size (width 35-40 mm and height 45-50 mm) photographs
    The two photographs should be endorsed on the reverse side with the words "We certify that this is a true likeness of Mr or Mrs or Miss..." and signed by the same recommenders who sign the application form at section 9. The two recommenders should either be Medical Practicioners, Lawyers, Notaries, Attorneys at Law, or Priests.
  2. Current Mauritian passport (valid or expired)
  3. National Identity Card
    In case the applicant does not have his/her National Identity Card he/she should sign a declaration to that effect. (see links)
  4. Birth Certificate
  5. Marriage Certificate if applicant is married or has been previously married
  6. Divorce decree if applicant is divorced
  7. Certificate of foreign nationality if applicant has acquired another nationality
  8. For persons under the age of 18, birth certificates, marriage certifcate and identity cards of parents should be produced.


NOTE:
  1. The application form should be signed by applicant in the two boxes at section 4 at the end of page 2 in BLACK INK.

  2. All documents in German should be forwarded along with a translation in English or French.

  3. When you have assembled all the necessary documents, please send them along with the application form and photos to the Embassy together with a fee of:
    • 50 EURO - adults, young persons (of age of 16 and above but under the age of 18)
    • 40 EURO - senior citizens (over 55 years), disabled persons, minors (under the age of 16)


  4. We will verify the documents submitted for the application and send them to the Passport and Immigration Office for processing.

  5. Applications for extension of passport will NOT be accepted.

  6. Applications for the inclusion of child in passport will NOT be accepted.

  7. Minors (under the age of 16) must submit a separate application for a passport.

  8. A divorced woman must either
    • apply on maiden name, or
    • submit an authenticated letter from ex-spouse allowing to use of married name, or
    • submit an authority from the court allowing use of married name.
